How to Use

Welcome to AR Podium!

Our platform is designed to make viewing and interacting with 3D models in augmented reality (AR) simple and intuitive, directly within your web browser. Whether you're showcasing your designs, exploring interactive educational content, or previewing products in a real-world environment, AR Podium brings your models to life with ease. When you first open AR Podium in your browser, you'll be greeted with the Main Screen. This is where all the magic happens. Here’s a quick guide on how to get started:

Main Screen Basics

Once you have uploaded a 3D model or selected a sample model, it will appear in the center of the screen. You can view and interact with your model using simple gestures: Rotate, Zoom In/Out and Pan. Rotating allows you to examine the model from all angles. Zooming helps you focus on the finer details of the model or get a broader view of its overall structure. Panning moves the model across the viewing area, allowing you to change its position within the frame. In the Menu, you can see there are 4 sections; Under the Models section you can find some sample models to examine and view in Augmented Reality. Under Current Model section, it shows you the current model’s name which is loaded in viewer and a ‘Reset Position’ button which will bring back the model to the center of the screen.

Model Upload & Preview

To upload a 3D model, navigate to the Model Upload section of the menu. Here, you’ll find an option to select and upload your model file from your device. Supported file formats include only GLB. Once you’ve selected your file, you can press ‘Upload Model’ button to preview the model inside the browser. After the upload is complete, your model will be processed and made available for viewing.

After that, give your model a name via the input box, this name will be displayed in dashboard and when its shared. typically found in the menu or control panel. Pressing ‘Save Model’ will start the save process and you’ll see a progress indicator under the button. Once the saving process is complete, you will receive a confirmation message indicating that the model has been successfully saved. The saved model will then be stored securely, allowing you to access it later from your model library via dashboard.

Dashboard

Once logged in, you’ll be directed to the dashboard, which provides an overview of your uploaded 3D models. You can refresh the list of models by clicking the “Refresh Models” button, which updates the display with any new or removed models. Each model is represented by a card containing a preview image and two main options: “View Model” and “Delete Model.” The “View Model” button allows you to open and interact with the selected model, while the “Delete Model” button enables you to remove the model from your storage. To use these options, click the dropdown menu on each card to reveal the buttons. To view a model, click the “View Model” button associated with it. This action will redirect you to the main page, where the selected model will be loaded for you to interact with. Ensure you are signed in to access this feature. If you wish to delete a model, click the “Delete Model” button on the card, the model will be permanently removed from your storage, and the dashboard will refresh to reflect this change.
